Engineering Review:Inquiries reviewed by developer engineering
Supported Platforms:Android 7.0+ (API 24+) • Targets API 36
Target Architecture:arm64-v8a, armeabi-v7a, x86_64

1. Keep Downloads Running When Screen is Locked

Modern Android systems (especially Samsung One UI, Xiaomi HyperOS/MIUI, and OnePlus OxygenOS) aggressively terminate background processes to conserve battery life. If your downloads stop when your screen dims:

  1. Open your phone’s Settings > Apps > Torrent Download Studio.
  2. Tap Battery (or Battery Usage / Power Saving).
  3. Select “Unrestricted” (or disable “Put app to sleep”).
  4. Ensure Background Data is set to “Allowed”.

2. Background Progress Notification Missing

On Android 13+ (API 33+), runtime notification permissions are required. The foreground service notification is essential for Android to recognize the download as an active user-initiated task:

  • Go to Settings > Apps > Torrent Download Studio > Notifications.
  • Ensure “All Torrent Download Studio notifications” is toggled ON.
  • Verify that the “Torrent Downloads” notification channel is enabled.

3. Locating Finished Files on Your Device

Completed files are saved directly into your internal shared storage using Android Scoped Storage:

Internal Storage > Download > Torrents

You can browse, move, or open these files with any file manager (e.g., Google Files, Samsung My Files) or open them directly in VLC, MX Player, or your preferred media app.

4. Slow Transfer Speeds or Zero Connected Peers

BitTorrent transfers rely on available seeders in the decentralized swarm. Factors affecting transfer speed:

Active Seeders: If a torrent has 0 active seeders, pieces cannot be transferred until a seeder comes online.
Network Restrictions: Some public Wi-Fi networks (schools, cafes, hotels) block BitTorrent TCP/UDP traffic and DHT ports. External network tools may change the network endpoint visible to peers, but privacy, connectivity, and transfer availability are not guaranteed by Torrent Download Studio.
DHT Discovery: Magnet links require a brief initial lookup period (typically 10–30 seconds) to resolve the torrent metadata from peers before chunk downloading commences.
